Last weekend ESLT hosted the 2012 Lands and Legacy events to celebrate and enjoy the beautiful wide open spaces of our region. The festivities began Friday afternoon at Mammoth Lakes High School where NBA great Bill Walton led a free basketball clinic for local high school players.

That afternoon Steve Marenberg and Alison Whalen generously opened their gorgeous home to ESLT for a private reception featuring Bill Walton and Olympic hopeful Meb Keflezighi with delicious food and great company.

The following morning kicked off with the June Lake Fun Ride, a 23 mile loop around one of the most incredible and scenic roadways in America. Over 60 riders pedaled with a purpose, with numerous volunteers helping along the way.

ESLT Lands Director Aaron Johnson and Education Coordinator/AmeriCorps Member Victoria Ortiz led a special tour of current conservation projects in the spectacular Green Creek region of Mono County. Participants learned about land conservation efforts in the area and the unique human and natural history of the region.

As the sun went down ESLT supporters put on their tie dye and dancing shoes for a fun flower-power gala dinner sponsored by Mammoth Mountain Ski Area. The evening of good vibes, delicious food, and fun with friends was certainly a night to remember. Entertainment by Flashback and Bill Walton kept the party lively with groovy tunes, a silent auction, and raffle.

Many thanks to everyone who made this weekend a success!
