ESLT has enjoyed the bright minds and enthusiasm of 6 dedicated AmeriCorps members through the Sierra Nevada AmeriCorps Partnership (SNAP). SNAP places 27 conservation minded college graduates with 17 organizations throughout the Sierra to conduct watershed restoration and monitoring, watershed education, and volunteer recruitment and support.
ESLT is dedicated to having an active role in our communities – educating people of all ages about the value of preserving rural lands in the Eastern Sierra. The SNAP member helps implement ESLT’s Community Connections Program, which offers ESLT members and the entire Eastern Sierra community, residents and visitors, the opportunity to connect with our treasured lands – to live, to learn and to experience the value of preserving these lands.
As ESLT’s 2012 AmeriCorps member I can confidently say that I love my position! I feel I’m making a tangible difference by connecting people to the lands and working with a wonderful staff in one of the most beautiful places on Earth. I have one of the best placements in the program which allows me to organize events and restoration projects and become an integral part of this welcoming and active community.
